Maternity top – take 01

Made By Pixies is an independent Pixie movement represented by Katja Riley, yarn designer and head Pixie, and Emily Riley, the organizing Pixie.

That pearl earring that fell between the floorboards, the piece of indigo ribbon that slid off the parcel, pieces of paua shell no one picked up on the beach…. They’re all treasures to our Pixies.

They love rich colours, unusual shapes, beautiful materials, and are always on the look-out for glitter and glam. Their discoveries are their most precious possessions: whether it’s a fabulous feather, a new tone of deep vibrant green, or a stylish silver clasp…

The pixies travel the world under the instruction booklet in the glove compartment or hiding under the spare wheel, out of sight in the plane’s cargo area or the train driver’s lunchbox… but when they come home, our workshop is their safe haven. They accept to trade their goodies for food and shelter… and sometimes a glass of wine too! They check the finished products with a keen eye, disapproving of anything that does not meet their standards. Some pieces, they will not part with… unless we are really convincing, or they really have to. They do love those gold coins. The products are inspired by nature, and hand made from beautiful fibers and fabrics. The Pixies are adamant that only buyers with a truly discerning eye will recognize the workmanship that has gone into producing any of their pieces. Their craft can be understood only by those with the same passion for hand made and sense of what is wise (for people, planet or other)…
